The mother Red Panda keeps her cub close to her on a branch in the treetops, and she builds several nests for the two of them to stay close until the cub grows old enough to leave the nest. The Mother's Day plate has been issued every year since 1969. In later years, artist Allan Therkelsen has created the motif which is as always depicted in the beautiful, blue colours of the underglaze.
